Job description

A bit about who we are:
Hey, we’re Impraise, a growing Y Combinator backed startup with offices in two of the most beautiful city centers of the world, Amsterdam and New York.

We’re on a mission to abolish the painful yearly performance reviews and redefine them so people can use feedback to grow personally and professionally throughout the year. Your work will have a major impact on a huge amount of people working at some of the most high performance companies in the world.

Work is a huge part of people’s lives. At Impraise you’ll have the chance to work with a team of amazing people with a proven track record of delivering great products.

Check out our Culture Video to discover who we are.

A little more about what we are building:
Our mission is to help people become successful in their professional life while building a company people love to work at. Think of it as becoming the fitness tracker of your professional life. We help our clients and users achieve a high performing work environment by:

→ Giving continuous insight into your performance;
→ Making it easy to collect feedback and make it insightful;
→ Offering coaching and guidance on the next steps in your career.

We’ve come a long way already and working together with some amazing clients like Atlassian, Shopify & IDEO. We see a lot of exciting opportunities and challenges ahead.

Your team’s challenge:
The ultimate challenge of your team is to turn the performance management process for people at work into a meaningful experience instead of just an administrative experience that doesn’t add value. One of the core principles that our clients and users tell us is that feedback and coaching should be more continuous throughout the year instead of once a year. Therefore your team is analysing the company processes, workflows of users and communication streams in order to build a product for our users that facilitates them in daily work life.

In the design team you will be working closely with talented designers Gijs Burgmeijer (designed the ABN Mobile banking app) and Gabriele Cirulli (creator of game 2048). Additionally, as our team is growing the design team will be tasked to look for more talented team members as well in the next months/year.

The challenge we would like you to solve in this role:
This is your opportunity to be part of the core design team of the company and have a direct impact on the direction that new features come to live. You’ll be able to have a major impact on the way people at some of the most well-known companies in the world are collaborating together.

A couple of things we would like you to focus on are:
- Redefining the way people collect and use feedback to grow and learn at work.
- Creating and implementing a design system to ensure consistency across the platform while increasing the speed of development
- Develop innovative new interactions of collecting feedback and presenting feedback turning it into actionable insights
- Simplify workflow processes for HR in order increase their effectiveness and happiness

What we expect you to do and be comfortable with from day one:

  • 5+ years experience designing enterprise-grade software products focused on workflow optimization, data visualization and/or support management.
  • Deep understanding of design processes and methods developed through experience and you balance fidelity with agility based on the task at hand.
  • Analytical thinking is rigorous and communication is precise, and it shows instantly.
  • Interest in exploring and experimenting without attachment.
  • Expert knowledge of UI design tools
  • Ability to create prototypes at varying levels of fidelity using prototyping tools.
  • Demonstrable experience building and refining successful software products based user observation.
  • Previous experience making decisions and rallying various types of people around those decisions.
  • Experience eliciting feedback from users in a range of contexts, and the ability to create user testing scripts and reports.
  • A track record that shows that your execution is top-notch and nimble.
  • People-centric: you understand people and can combine that with testing and data to make sound design decisions.
  • Collaborative in all things: You know when to involve others and escalate issues

What we offer

  • We’re a young ambitious team that found traction in a huge market and is hungry to expand
  • We have the advantage of being a Y Combinator company as well as having substantial revenue and funding
  • At 24 people we’re still small enough for you to have a major impact on the way we work, where the product is going and our company culture
  • Offices in the center of beautiful Amsterdam, plus a commitment to stay there as we grow
  • Free lunch at the office, company drinks every Friday, yearly team retreat (last time we went to Rome)
  • Competitive salary plus stock options
